The Association of Practising
Pathologists is an association of Pathologists
with Postgraduate Qualification running their
own establishments. The Association has honour
of being a Stakeholder at International
Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC),
Sydney. This is the only Non-Government
Organization representing India and few
worldwide enjoying such status.
The need of this association in addition to
Indian Association of Pathologists and
Microbiologists was discussed in a meeting of
eminent pathologists in June 1999. It was
decided that since our requirements and problems
are totally different from Service Pathologists
we should have an additional Association
fulfilling the needs of Practising Pathologist.
Ultimately this APP was formed on June 2nd 2001
in a meeting of more than 28 Practising
Pathologists from Delhi and NCR.
A constitution was framed and passed in
subsequent General Body Meeting. It was
subsequently registered under S.R. Act of 1860
(Punjab Amendment Act Of 1952)
The Registered office is situated in the
National Capital Territory of Delhi at Eskay Lab
C-4/19 Acharya Niketan, Mayur Vihar-I, Delhi
110092.
At present there are more than 150 Life members.
There is no provision of Ordinary members.
The association is having its own Proficiency
Testing Programme based on Guide 43 of ISO 9001
with the name of VILAC. This programme has the
honour of being only programme in India and
probably anywhere in the world, which is ISO
9001: 2008 certified and covers all the aspects
of clinical laboratory testing. |
